Rameau Year 2014 - Chamber Music
Blandine Rannou Harpsichord
Suite in A
Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Les Trois Mains, Fanfarinette, La Triomphante, Gavotte et doubles.
Suite in G
Les Tricotets (rondeau), L'Indifférente, Menuet 1 et 2, La Poule, Les Triolets, Les Sauvages, L'Enharmonique, L'Égyptienne
In the tradition of Couperin, Rameau wrote several suites of harpsichord pieces, among the masterpieces of the genre. In 1728, four years after his second book of harpsichord pieces, Rameau extended this experience by publishing a new collection entitled Nouvelles suites de pièces de clavecin, preceded by a preface entitled Remarques sur les pièces de ce livre et sur les différents genres de musique (Notes on the pieces of this book and different music genres) that contains valuable advice on performance. The originality of the musical ideas as well as the harmonic and rhythmic audacity make the Nouvelles Suites a summit of keyboard music on par with Johann Sebastian Bach's contemporary scores, but in a totally French style.
